Benjamin Franklin's daily schedule

Everybody loves Ben Franklin, it seems.

Have you ever wished you could go back in time and spend a day with him? Have you ever wondered how he spent his time?

Did you know that Ben Franklin followed a daily schedule? Would it surprise you to discover that he used what we would call a day-planner to organize his priorities?

The folks over at Oxford University Press publish Benjamin Franklin: Autobiography and Other Writings. In it, they show a photo of his daily schedule (shown above).

You can purchase the manuscript here:

Pretty amazing. Dr. Ben was a renassaince man. Even with such an orderly schedule it makes you wonder how he found time to do all he did. Now I think of it, I know how he did it. He walked most places in Town and never watched TV or browsed the Internet.

What I like most is that he took stock of each day’s activity. The famous AM/PM questions. They are a real poke in the eye for modern man.
