NAPL & NAQP Mergers and Acquisitions Workshop for Print Owners
It’s been said that the fastest way to grow your printing firm is to merge with or acquire a competitor. That’s probably true, but mergers and acquisitions can be very complex and downright scary — unless you know what you’re doing. The National Association of Printing Leadership (NAPL) and National Association of Quick Printers (NAQP) are jointly sponsoring a one-day seminar about this important topic on November 14th in Rochester, New York. Mitch Evans and Andrew Papparozzi, two well-known printing industry leaders, will be among the presenters.

Oops… Talk About an Embarrassing Typo!
OK, this would be embarrassing. The Vatican recently minted 6,000 gold medals to commemorate Pope Francis’s first year in the Papacy. Unfortunately, the name of “Jesus” was misspelled. The medals were all recalled, but not before a few were sold saying “Lesus” on the coin. Ouch! You have to wonder what happened to the proofreader.

A Great Price-Shopping Website for Silver Investors
Are you a silver bullion investor? Here’s a great website that compares silver prices from the nation’s largest silver commodity brokers and provides real-time quotes that make it easy for anyone to instantly locate the best value. For the first time in many years, silver prices have fallen about 30%. Some feel this is a good time to invest in silver.

Do Printers Need Viagra?
Evidently, the people over at Pfizer Pharmaceutical think so. Seems their latest television commercial for the popular erectile dysfunction medication features a printer who apparently owns a large commercial printing firm, as seen in the commercial. The marketing creative was provided by McCann Erickson, and the theme is titled: “The age of knowing what you’re made of…” I thought most printers were always working all night!

Does Your Printing Sales Rep Need a Little Boost?
Best-selling author and noted sales trainer, Jeff Gitomer, will be in Philadelphia presenting a live sales seminar entitled “21.5 Unbreakable Laws of Selling…” Gitomer is a highly rated speaker, and the cost of the morning-to-lunch seminar is $99.00. Gitomer is best known for his Little Red Book of Selling series of sales books.

Have You Joined the Marketing Ideas for Printers Discussion Group on LinkedIn?
I’m in the process of starting a free marketing ideas discussion group on LinkedIn. We had an even 100 printers join the group in our first week, and we hope to have 500 members by Christmas. This will be a great place to see what other owners of printing firms are doing to market their companies. It’s free, and we will not be allowing consultants and vendors to join the group. Membership will be limited to real printers with real marketing ideas. Please join us today. Did I mention it’s free?

The Music Video of the Week
Take five minutes to enjoy this great live rendition of Tom Petty’s “Refugee” by Jonny Gray and Shawn Smith, two talented, ex-military men competing on the popular TV show The Voice.

My name is Mike Stevens, and I am a printer.
