Day #1 – Losing 10 pounds in 10 days

Weight at the beginning of day #2 – 208.5 pounds

Weight lost on day #1 was 2 pounds.

Today, I am feeling encouraged by the quick loss of 2 pounds, but I knew this would probably happen. Day #1 is the easiest day to lose weight but the hardest “emotionally.” It was a tough head trip, but the loss of 2 pounds fired me up!

To kick this rapid weight loss plan into effect, I didn’t eat much today. I didn’t feel any loss of energy throughout the day, but it was still very hard not to keep grabbing something to snack on, because I felt very hungry throughout the day. The worst hunger pains were at lunchtime and the last hour before bedtime. I tried to keep myself very busy, to keep me distracted from the urge to eat something.

Here are the activity highlights of my day.

  • I spent 1 hour at the gym working out. I did a fairly intense upper body weightlifting routine that probably burned about 800 calories.
  • I walked for appx 30 minutes. This probably burned about 350 calories.
  • I slept for 6 hours, which wasn’t quite enough.
  • I drank five 12-ounce glasses of water. This is an area of weakness for me. The experts say we need to drink half our body weight in ounces of water. In other words, if you weigh 200 pounds, you should drink 100 ounces of water. Ugh. I need to improve dramatically here. The water helps cleanse our bodies of toxins and keeps us from feeling so hungry.
  • My food intake consisted of 1/2 cup of shelled pistachio nuts, three protein drinks (these helped a lot!!), a small cornmeal burrito shell with peanut butter & jelly, and a chocolate cookie. Not exactly the healthiest stuff I could find, but it got me through day #1.

I expect the first three days will be the hardest, but at this point I am determined to keep going. I was kind of surprised at how many of you emailed me to say “I’m on board” with the idea of losing 10 pounds in 10 days.
