Day #3 – Losing 10 pounds in 10 days

Beginning weight at the start –   210.5 pounds
Weight at the end of day #1 –   208.5 pounds
Weight at the end of day #2 –   206.5 pounds
Weight at the end of day #3 –   205.5 pounds
Total weight lost on day #3 –   1 pound
Total weight lost in 3 days –   5 pounds

Well, so far so good. I lost another pound today. I continued my minimal calorie eating plan as outlined in yesterday’s blog post.

I promised I would itemize the list of 27 vitamins and nutraceutical grade supplements I take each day, and here is my list:

  • Ubiquinol (Co-Q10) – 100mg – one daily
  • L-Arginine – 1000mg – two daily
  • Milk Thistle – 175 mg – two daily
  • Tumeric – 395 mg – two daily
  • Pycnogenol – 100mg – two daily
  • Vitamin D3 – 5000 IU – one daily
  • Melatonin – 10 mg – one at bedtime
  • Lycopene – 20 mgs – one daily
  • Saw Palmetto – 160 mg – one daily
  • Multivitamin – super high potency – one daily
  • Chlorella – 1 gram – 10 daily @ five each morning & night
  • DHEA – 50 mg – one daily
  • Selenium – 200 mcg – two daily

I decided not to describe “why” I take each individual supplement. I was worried I might get something mixed up that could prove hazardous to you in some way. This is my list. If you’re curious about any of these, it should be easy to find out more by searching Google, before you decide if you want to include them in your nutritional plan. For you guys who are following this series, there is no delicate way to say this, but several of these supplements are specifically for my sexual health.

At this point in my accelerated weight-loss plan, I am feeling very good. Sure, I’m hungry almost all of the time, but I expected that. One of the most difficult things for me to deal with is mealtimes and how my plan is affecting the social time with my family. I’ve tried to sit with my family at mealtimes, but it’s too difficult to see all that good food in front of me and not keep nibbling away at it. The only alternative is to skip eating with them altogether, which helps me stay on track, but it’s kinda hard on the kids. Fortunately, this is only a 10-day plan, and then things will return to normal at our family mealtime.

I have also started to increase my aerobic activity. When a person starts eating less, their metabolism will slow itself down to compensate for the intake of fewer calories. By exercising, I’m hoping to maintain my normal metabolic levels. I like walking. During this time, I am trying to walk 10,000 steps a day. I visit our local shopping mall each evening and walk 3 miles, which takes about 39 minutes. I track my steps and calories burned on a Nike+Fuelband, which I wear on my wrist daily. I have used a Fuelband for about 18 months, and it has helped me stay highly motivated to keep moving. Plus… my kids think it’s cool.

The email comments about losing 10 pounds in 10 days continue to arrive in my inbox at a surprising rate. I’m happy to hear many of you have decided to try to lose a few pounds, too. I wish you discipline… and success!
