One of the best email newsletters you’ll ever read

Happy “short” Thanksgiving Week to all of you hard-working printers! I sincerely hope all of you enjoy at least one day away from the office this week. I always looked forward to the Thanksgiving weekend because that’s when I would start working on my next year’s sales and marketing plan, and that always created a sense of hope and enthusiasm for me. I hope all of you are excited for increased opportunity in 2014. Have you actually begun to put your marketing plans into action as the new year draws closer?

Here are some fun and creative ideas to inspire you…

Here’s one of the best email newsletters you’ll ever read.
It’s not only a great marketing tool, but it also contains some of the best content you’ll find anywhere. Dave Ramsey, the well-known radio talk show host and bestselling author, publishes a terrific leadership email newsletter once a month. Here’s the latest issue for you to review. If you’re not currently a subscriber, I would strongly suggest you become one. The content is consistently excellent, and you won’t be bombarded with a lot of collateral advertising email when you subscribe. It’s a free subscription.

When you were a kid, did you do a lot of crazy things on your bike?
Either way, check out this amazing video. I’ll bet you never did anything on your bike like this. Every time I watch this, I keep thinking it just can’t be real. Nobody is that brave… or that crazy!! Fasten your seatbelt. This is fun to watch, and I guarantee you’ll be as amazed as I was!

Ever wonder how effective “personalization” is to your marketing efforts?
Here’s a really helpful scientific survey about the personalization effectiveness of print, email, PURLS, and mobile marketing. The survey clearly illustrates that marketing efforts which feature a higher degree of personalization result in a higher ROI. This is not only good stuff for you to know, but it’s also a very helpful resource to use when selling these additional services to your customers!

Unisource Papers asks, “How can we help?”
Here’s how you can request any of Unisource’s digital print resources, including their digital print swatchbook, paper samples, a paper dummy built to your specifications, or a “live” consultation with one of their digital print experts. It’s a free resource you might find very helpful.

Jonny Gray vs. Shawn Smith: “Refugee” – The Voice
OK, this is just too good to pass up. I am officially giving you permission to “take five” and watch this music video. If you do, I can just about guarantee you’ll walk out of your office a little more energized — and hey, that’s a good thing!

Here’s where I am today as you’re reading this
My family and I decided to do something different for Thanksgiving this year. We flew to Los Angeles, rented a Dodge Caravan, and are in the process of taking a week off to drive up the California coast from LA to San Francisco. On Tuesday, the day you’re most likely reading this issue of Gutenblog, we’ll be touring Hearst Castle. You’ll have to check out their fabulous website. Personally, I think Hearst Castle is the most beautiful place in America. I can’t even imagine having enough money to build a place like this. How’d he do that??

So…where are you going for Thanksgiving? Add a comment, and let me know.

Happy Travels and Happy Thanksgiving!

My name is Mike Stevens, and I am a printer.

Hi Stevens Family:
The Hearst Castle looks fabulous…I have visited the Biltmore Castle (Ashleigh, North Carolina) the Pintlock Mansion in Portland, and lastly, Boldt Castle, near Alexandria Bay, NY. I will have to put The Hearst Castle on my bucket list.

For this Thanksgiving, my husband, daughter and son-in-law will be taking it easy, smoking a turkey and will look forward to (hopefully) hearing from our son who is currently on tour in Afghanistan.

Happy Thanksgiving ~ Jodi Bowser

Hi Jodi, I hope to be able to visit Biltmore Castle someday, I think it is considered America’s other “great house…” It looks spectacular!!
